CHAPTER III: SCENE OF THE GRIME...

Lt. Brant Harris. Top of his class in school always and top of his game now at the precinct. He was hired after Jake in the department by a few months and was still a mystery to most of his peers. He just never talked about himself and his demeanor made him a bit intimidating to ask so nobody ever did. Everyone liked him for his competence and intelligence but...for the most part he remained and remains a big mystery. Odd in a precinct to say the least. Lol.

He began to fill us in...(he had been to the scene and stayed until Forensics guys arrived. (They are another story).

"When I got out there the body was still warm which of course means he hadn't been dead long."
"Who found the body," Jake asked.
"Guy, neighbor guy, out walking his dog. Dog actually detected it first. He called on his cell and I went right out."

"What do we know about the victim?" I asked.
Jake turned and smiled at me, but as a reporter I have a pretty good clue what questions to ask.

"Not much yet, but here is what I do know. Student at the high school where he was found, would have been a Junior next year. Lives in that neighborhood and is or rather was sixteen according to his I.D.

Ryan Michaels (desk duty cop) is calling anyone we think might have known him and who might have a clue as to why he was murdered."
"When can we go out?"
"I'm waiting for a call from Charlie, (Forensics Team) and as soon as he says we can we will."
"Good," Jake said and I could see he was champing at the bit to 'get on with it.'
